CARE CROWS – SCHOOL WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT
Our classroom focus across the school continues to be waiting to take our turn in discussions. The tallies in classrooms have been steadily improving and we are still working towards no more than five interruptions per class per day.
We are nearly ready to circulate the ‘golden feathers’ tokens –positive reward currency for students who embody caring for self, others and the environment at school. Feather tokens can be exchanged for tangible rewards and saved towards classroom and whole school rewards. I have attached an article which we are referencing in designing our reward system here at school. It includes rewards that can be used at home as well as for older teenage siblings.

Care for Areas
We are endeavouring to promote pride in and responsibility for maintaining our school environment.
In addition to picking up rubbish (very little), weeding, sweeping paths and other simple tasks will help keep our grounds and buildings looking fabulous.
In the first 20 minutes of each Monday, each class will get out and do a little caring. If parents wish to join, they are most welcome! (please sign in at the office).
.
Camps, Sports and Excursion Fund Applications
The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund helps eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities.
If you have a valid means-tested concession card, such as a Veterans Affairs Gold Card, Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible. There is also a special consideration category for asylum seeker and refugee families.
Payment amounts this year are $125 for eligible primary school students. Payments are made direct to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions and sporting activities for the benefit of your child.
If you applied for CSEF through our school last year, you do not need to complete an application form this year, unless there has been a change in your family circumstances.
If you would like to apply for the first time, you can download the form here. Forms are also available at the office.
You can also download the form, and find out more about the program and eligibility, on the Department of Education and Training’s Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund web page.
Please return completed forms to the office as soon as possible.

Road Safety Message from the School Crossing Team
Welcome back to another School Term. Whilst the weather is starting to turn colder, we are still seeing lots of people out and about walking and on bikes. So, here are just a few safety tips to keep in mind…………
- When riding a bike on the road, you must follow the same road rules as other vehicles. This means you must stop at the School Crossing when the Supervisor is on the Crossing with the Stop sign displayed.
- When walking on roads where there are no footpaths, it is best to walk on the side of the road with the traffic coming towards you. This may seem strange, but it is the safer way as it means you can see the traffic coming without having to continually be checking behind you.
- Always use the School Crossing when the flags are displayed.
- Always check the parking signs around schools and ensure you are parked legally.

Hello families and friends of Winters Flat Primary School. Welcome back to Term 2! Students are settling back into the routine of school – getting up, packing lunch, remembering to take things to school and bring them home again! All of this is a lot for families and children to achieve and we are here to lend a hand if needed.
Something available to many families of Prep students is the State Schools’ Relief Program which provides families with a jumper, pants and a pair of shoes. At the front office we have forms that can be filled out and submitted.
A resource which is very helpful for families and their children is the recently re-vamped Kids Helpline website which has a fantastic page for kids aged 5-12. The page contains interactive stories and information on topics such as, ‘Fights With Friends’, ‘Bullying is not OK’, ‘Feeling Lonely’, ‘Everybody Makes Mistakes’, ‘There’s a New Family Member In My Family’, ‘Why Am I So Sad’… and soooo many more! Have a look, there might just be a topic that you and your child can sit down together and have a look at https://kidshelpline.com.au/kids/issues
